BURNCO is a 105 years old, fourth generation aggregate construction materials business with over seventy locations in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Colorado and Texas. A family business based in Calgary, BURNCO produces high quality aggregates, paving asphalt and ready mix concrete and also operates a network of retail landscape centres.

BURNCO Rock Products Ltd requires a Pit Engineering Supervisor who will report directly to our Operations Manager, Southern Alberta.  You will be responsible to plan and design all aspects of pit activities related to earthwork, reclamation, silt handling and general site operations.  You will manage all projects to ensure that costs are controlled, schedules are met and BURNCO specifications are achieved. As well you will prepare reports on reserve estimates, areas mined and reclaimed, reclamation liabilities, and prospective project cost analysis through calculated information and supportive drawings.

As the ideal candidate you possess a minimum of 3 years related experience with preference to aggregate, mining or construction industries along with a post-secondary education in an engineering field (civil, mining industrial or mechanical engineering).  Proficiency in AutoCad Civil 3D would be considered an asset, but not a requirement.  Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications is required, as well as strong knowledge of reading contour plans and site plans.  You will also possess a valid Class 5 driver license as you are required to travel within the Southern Alberta area to visit gravel pits.

You must also possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.  You will have strong interpersonal skills and able to work in a team oriented, collaborative environment.  Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with a keen attention to detail and ability to learn quickly and retain information.
