Lands and Environment Coordindator

Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for almost 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton. With a solid reputation for excellence in our industry and a commitment to providing high-quality services, we are currently searching for a dedicated and experienced Lands and Environment Coordinator to join our team.
This is a Full time, year-round, permanent, salary position based out of the main office with a field work component. Overtime will be required.
Level: Intermediate
Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Authorizations: Assist in the preparation and coordination of regulatory authorization applications for sand and gravel pits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., Code of Practice for Pits, Water Act, Public Lands Act, and municipal land use bylaws).
2. Environmental Monitoring: Collect and report environmental data and samples as required by regulatory authorizations at remote gravel pits.
3. Inventory Management and Drone Flights: Conduct monthly drone flights and modeling for effective inventory management.
4. Identify Aggregate Reserves: Participate in identifying, testing and acquiring potential aggregate reserves through ground truthing, screening, and application.
5. Operational Support: Provide support for mining operations and reclamation activities at gravel pits.
6. Environmental Management Program: Conduct inspections, monitoring, and reporting to ensure compliance with environmental best management practices and regulatory requirements for company facilities.
Requirements
Bachelors degree or technical diploma in Environmental Science, Agrology, Biology, Forestry, or a related field.
Must be registered or eligible for registration with a relevant professional association in Alberta (e.g., Alberta Society of Professional Biologists, Alberta Institute of Agrologists, or Association of Alberta Forest Management Professionals).
At least two years of experience in environmental permitting, monitoring, and compliance.
Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations, policies, and permitting requirements, particularly related to sand and gravel operations.
Must possess or be willing to obtain a Drone Pilot Certificate for Advanced Operations.
Experience in the sand and gravel mining industry is an asset.
Proficiency in GIS software is beneficial.
Ability to work independently in remote field settings with minimal supervision.
